Rise of the Splogs (aka Blogkits vs. blogspam)
With the imminent release of the BlogKits Niche Affiliate Network dedicated to Bloggers only we’ve been inundated with applications.
Already leading advertisers and bloggers have signed up to join the network.
However, as I’ve discovered with everything positive there comes a negative.
We’ve been inundated with applications from seemingly nonsensical blogs that just don’t seem to have any viable content on them. Literally hundreds of applications for very keyword rich sites with enormous archives that rank highly on SE’s but just don’t make sense when an actual human reads them.
Ohhh temptation is a killer ![]()
Here we’re presented with an ideal vehicle to assure immediate high traffic for our advertisers and a surefire launch.
However when you consider the “larger issues” and the longer term consequences it becomes very clear.
1. These blogs have NO value to the consumer who visits them – so they won’t be back.
2. It degrades the blogging community’s credibility and everything we stand for.
3. Our advertisers would not want to be associated with this kind of content.
4. It’s short term traffic – I’m sure the SE’s will catch up to them (or at least I hope so).
So, please Mr. Splogger – Don’t apply to BlogKits – you’re not welcome anymore….. Only real bloggers need apply!
